Mark Joy started going on car camping trips when he was 7 months old with his extended family in Michigan. Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore was a family tradition, 3 generations old. Growing up, he remembers looking forward to that trip every year, because it meant adventure, imagination, and family time with relatives.
Disconnecting from creature comforts like TV and video games - and being outdoors for 2 weeks straight in one of Michigan’s most beautiful national parks - meant finding serenity.
Since then, he has backpacked, hiked, or camped at some of the most beautiful places in North America, including Zion National Park in Utah, the Quetico Boundary Waters in Canada, and the Grand Canyon in Arizona. He’s also done a handful of other outdoor activities in a lot of different places that are too long to list here.
Now, Mark is the owner of markjoyblogs.com, where he empowers people to find their outdoor passions. These could be any outdoor activities, including backyard games, electric skateboarding, adventure sports, snowboarding, building treehouses, and backpacking.
Whether you’re a DIYer looking for campervan conversion kit ideas, or heading out on your next vanlife trip and need tips on what camping gear to bring, Mark wants to help you experience the outdoors in any way possible.
Mark currently resides in the Seattle, WA area with his wife and baby girl, and enjoys getting on to new adventures in the great Pacific Northwest.
